Whether you believe this or not, you don’t have to wait for the stars and moon to align to initiate your own changes, be they physical, intellectual or spiritual, but it’s a fab excuse.
What I love about a yoga practice is not only the physical body awareness lessons but also the intellectual and spiritual ones too. Admittedly, I started with a practice that was all physical. I had no interest in the intellectual or foundational components of yoga. However, when I started to include more mindfulness practices, I was surprised to mind that my physical practice improved exponentially.
What I’m currently loving is my beginner’s Iyengar Yoga Class with the venerable Patricia Walden. At the start of class, we spend 10-15 minutes discussing yoga philosophy before applying that principle to the upcoming physical practice. While giving up 15 minutes of sweat time for listening and internalizing time was originally not on my radar, I’ve found that it does make sense. Knowing a little bit more about myself on a mental level helps me understand more about myself on a physical level. However, as is often the case with yoga, doing instead of thinking is when the results occur! So in the rehashed words of many a powerful Pinterest Quote, “You Change, You Get The Lesson. If You Won’t Change, STFU…”
Wishing you a Spring full of powerful change and transformation, on and off the mat.
Your contribution will provide insightful feedback to help us formulate an outline for a series of impactful workshops. The goal of the collaboration is to enhance the Kundalini #Yoga Kriyas for body awareness and activation with Plank’s Advanced Foundation System of uncommon grounding tools and observations.
If you’re interested in elevating your Kundalini mind and body awareness with an extraordinary grounded experience we highly suggest you join us! Expect to learn how grounding is a never-ending subject, and experience how being profoundly grounded will exponentially increase the #Kundalini energy in your practice.
1) Do your best Flat Back. Take 3-5 breaths. Notice the quality and size of your breath.
2) Push your thigh bones back. Take 3-5 breaths and notice the size and quality of your breath again. For me it’s fuller.
3) Now what grounded body part can enhance the pushing back of the thighs? For me it’s my heels, particularly my inside heel. So with 4 corner technology, connect them and breath 3-5 times. Notice the quality and size of your breath. For me, it’s even fuller and more expansive and my back body feels light.
4) Finally, keep checking into your feet and see what more can be grounded. For me, my breath gets shockingly more expansive, my back is light and my core is lifting without me even paying attention to it.
The power of being constantly reminded about the connected quality of the feet blows my mind, and my body too! Try it, use it in class and know that you have many more opportunities to discover the power of grounding, especially when practicing on a Plank Yoga Mat (www.plankdesigns.com).

We are excited to announce the first of Plank’s #GetGrounded: Deepen Your Yoga Foundations Workshops, which will be held at Yoga Joy Studio in Gloucester, MA on Thursday, January, 15th from 5-6pm.
In this workshop, Doreen Hing, creator of Plank® Yoga Mats, will guide you to develop an investigative curiosity into the depth of grounding to enhance stability, lifts, power and more within your yoga practice.
Let’s get more curious about our breath awareness and see if, with a little more grounded awareness, can you hold your poses for longer, deeper and with more ease.
Plank Yoga Mats (www.plankdesigns.com) is proud to be a sponsor of the 10-Day Bryce Yoga Handstand Challenge via Absolute Yoga Academy. It’s free to join, and each day you’ll receive a tutorial video helping you to prepare and practice inversions.

Overdid it on the Halloween candy this year? Detox with a Seated Spinal Twist!
#PlankTip: Make sure you are grounded through both of your sit bones before your start. Inhale to lengthen and lift through your heart center, exhale to deepen your twist and drive down through your tailbone. Bigger, more expansive breaths will help you to detox and purge toxins from the body (including all that candy).
